The Renault Scenic recently transformed from a traditional multi-purpose vehicle into a modern electric crossover. It sits in a heavily contested segment where buyers expect generous space alongside capable battery technology. The competition is heavily entrenched across the continent. The Tesla Model Y remains a common default choice for many, starting at 39,990 euros in Germany for the standard range version. Volkswagen demands 46,335 euros for the ID.4 Pro to grant access to its larger battery and familiar dealer network. Peugeot asks 48,900 euros for the base trim of its striking E-3008 crossover. Renault enters this exact space with the Scenic E-Tech Electric, starting at 41,890 euros for the 60 kWh version. The 87 kWh Long Range model reviewed here requires a steeper 47,900 euros.

Renault made a crucial and highly practical decision regarding the central dashboard interface. Drivers can adjust the climate without taking their eyes off the road. Burying basic climate controls in a digital submenu is like requiring a complex password to open a kitchen refrigerator. Retaining physical controls for essential functions is a structural choice that impacts daily usability.

The infotainment system runs natively on Google Android Automotive OS. It is responsive and integrates Google Maps directly into the instrument cluster, predicting the battery state of charge at the destination with high accuracy. The system does not require a smartphone connection to function normally, however, Apple CarPlay remains fully supported for those who prefer it. Sound deadening materials line the firewall and floor pan. The transition from a multi-purpose vehicle to a crossover means the high seating position remains. Rearward visibility is restricted by the shape of the rear pillars. The standard 360-degree camera system displays the vehicle’s surroundings on the center screen.

Long-term dependability relies heavily on the maturity of a vehicle’s underlying components. The electric drive unit avoids the mechanical wear items associated with combustion engines, and the manufacturer possesses a decade of electric drivetrain data stemming from earlier compact models. Data from previous vehicles on this platform indicates a stable lifespan for the primary drive motors. The use of Android software offloads digital stability to a dedicated technology company, which has largely eliminated the frustrating infotainment screen crashes seen in older generations. The multi-link rear suspension will eventually require bushing replacements, representing a future maintenance cost not present in simpler axle designs. The LG-supplied battery has proven resilient in sister models, provided owners utilize the internal charge limit features for daily driving.
